Stony Stratford Library linked with our local schools in 2003 and has been sending volunteer readers into the classroom ever since. This has been a very successful scheme and is continuing to be appreciated by our local primary school, St Mary and St Giles. We are starting to rebuild our offer of volunteer readers following the recent pandemic and are looking for people who are able to give some time during the school week. You will be fully Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) checked, a process the school will undertake on your behalf. Our scheme involves a volunteer who will read with individual children at a time that you and the school agree. For further information and to become a volunteer, contact:

We also link with individual class visits to the library and arrange visits by theatre companies or writers to work with children.
